Kansas Relays Preview
Complete list of scheduled events for athletes from Piper, Bonner, Ward and Wyandotte
Stand-out track and field athletes from Piper, Bonner Springs, Wyandotte, and Bishop Ward high schools will compete on Friday and Saturday at the Kansas Relays at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence. Several recent graduates now competing at the collegiate level will also be at the meet with their new teams.
This season marks the 100th year for the prestigious event, which draws top high school and collegiate talent from across the Midwest but has been on hold for the past three years.
General admission tickets are $10 per day or $15 for both days, available through the website https://www.kansasrelays.com.
High School
Piper is represented by Jayden Henry (hurdles) and Grace Hanson (distance), along with Ryann Clark sprinting and leading the girls' 4×100- and 4×400-meter relay teams. Piper's boy's 4×100- and 4×400-meter teams will race, and Kylie Brockman (javelin) and TyJanae Hooks (shot put) will compete in the field events.
Bonner Springs senior Jenna Knight will compete in both hurdles events, and the girls' 4×100-meter relay team will race as well. The school is holding its prom this weekend, keeping some of its top athletes out of the Relays.
Junior Jaquelyn Perez-Vela will race for the Wyandotte Bulldogs in two sprint events and run with the girls' 4×100-meter relay team. The boys’ 4×100-meter relay team is also entered.
Bishop Ward's boys' 4×100-meter relay team is also participating in the competition.

College
At the collegiate level, Piper grads Grant Lockwood and David Holmes will both be competing in the men's 4×400-meter relay — Lockwood for the KU Jayhawks, and Holmes for the UMKC Kangaroos. Lockwood will also run in the 400-meter dash.
Washington grad Mikayla Henry, now a freshman at Pratt Community College, will compete in the women's 100-meter dash.
Turner stand-out Davion Scott will race for Emporia State in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
Former Sumner Sabre Nahshon Houston, a member of the UMKC track team, will compete unaffiliated in the men's long jump.
Bonner Springs' Noah Doss will race for the University of St. Mary Spires in the men's 4×100-meter relay.
