Schlagle’s Joseph Richardson drove to the basket against Wyandotte’s Immanuel Collins. Richardson led the Stallions in scoring with 17 points.

The Schlagle Stallions beat Wyandotte 60-26 at home Tuesday night in front of a dynamic crowd with full sections of fans of both teams.

Schlagle got a hot start with the first seven points, but the Bulldogs fought back to tie the game at 14 late in the first quarter on Kenton Fisher’s long jumper.

Subscribe (for free) Jose Mejia got the equalizer for Sumner in the 54th minute, returning a rebound off the crossbar.

The hosts poured on the points in the second quarter, outscoring Wyandotte 21-3 and effectively putting the game out of reach. Six different Stallions scored in the quarter, including Joseph Richardson, Caleb White, and Cincere Lewis with three-pointers.

The Schlagle offense didn’t let up after the break, knocking down seven baskets from the field and four-of-eight at the line in the third frame. Wyandotte had eight third-quarter points, including a three-pointer from Immanuel Collins.

With the clock running in the fourth quarter, the game wound down quickly from there to settle at the final 60-26 tally.

Richardson led the Stallions with 17 points, including 3 three-pointers, and Ronnie Bush scored 13 points around the basket. Dymyn Evans had seven points to pace the Bulldogs, and YoAngel Montilla added five.

The win pushes Schlagle’s record to 3-1 for the season as they head into the Christmas break. Wyandotte drops to 0-4. They travel to face undefeated Highland Park on Friday.

Girls: Wyandotte 60, Schlagle 24

The Wyandotte girls won their contest at Schlagle, 60-24 with a dominant defense-first performance featuring a lot of fast-break scoring. Germya Sanford led the attack for the Lady Bulldogs, along with Jaida Johnson and Jaylynn Hunt.

Micaela Ashley pressed the attack for the Lady Stallions, and Abigail McKinnies hit two three-pointers to give the home squad an outside presence. The Schlagle girls are reclaiming their identity this year under coach Anthony Wesson after spending last year as a combined squad with Washington.

Wyandotte closed out the first quarter on a 13-1 run and with a double-digit lead didn’t look back, with 19 second quarter points, and 18 in the third.

The Lady Bulldogs even their record at 2-2, and Schlagle drops to 0-1. Wyandotte will face the 1-0 Highland Park Lady Scots on Friday.
